Free flower illustration for download
I painted these flowers for a client but sadly, they didn’t make the grade. I thought about keeping them for use somewhere else, but I draw and paint in this style so frequently that it seems silly to hold onto anything if I can create something new (and potentially better) instead.
This illustration was painted by hand in Clip Studio with an enlarged mapping pen and nothing else. I learned from painting watercolour that its usually good to use an oversized brush to paint with, because it gives you such big, visually interesting strokes. The same applies here with the oversized pen, but because the opacity is zero and the edges are sharp, you get these big, clean shapes that can look quite good in corporate and official documents. There’s a kind of inoffensive weirdness to illustrations made in this style.
There’s space at the top for some text if you want to use the whole thing, but the download also includes the illustration’s separate parts so you can break it up and mess around with it. Its free for commercial use, but please feel free to contact me and show me what you’ve done with it. You can find me here, on Instagram and on Linkedin.
The illustration is .PNG but if you want another format of some sort, just let me know. I can get you a PDF of it fairly easily, but you might need to wait a few days if I’ve got clients to look after.
If you’re interested in more free illustrations (I quite often have lots of digitised artwork left over and kicking around the studio, looking for a home), you can find the following downloads in the following locations. There’s a pencil bee here, a pencil rabbit there and there’s a complete Christmas tree Christmas card available from this post here. All of them are free for commercial use.
