“Love this – thankyou!”

I can build you a site from scratch or work on what you already have. WordPress is my comfort zone, but most other CMS’s and custom-built applications are well within my skillset. I’m happy to work on a Content Management System of your choice, e.g. Squarespace, Wix or WordPress. If you have no preference, then WordPress is usually the default. If you want to see some finished work, there are photographs at the bottom of the page.
WORKING ON AN ESTABLISHED WEBSITE
The way that Engine Head works on established websites is, 8 times out of 10, gradual. Unless its a brand new site or a carefully thought-through rebrand and relaunch, it’s sensible to make lots of small tweaks over a long period. Big, sweeping changes run the risk of spooking your customer base and having the opposite effect to the one that you intended when you decided to refresh your brand and your digital assets.
Changing a website carefully over time – always toward a specific goal – ensures that your audience don’t get any shocks or scares. Plus, smaller, targeted changes are much easier to measure and assess.
HOSTING
Do you need hosting? If not (great!), we can work with yours. If you do however, then I have access to high quality shared hosting on Krystal. Space is limited though, so make sure that you bring it up sooner rather than later to make sure that we stay on top of it. If you host with Krystal, then your site will probably be built on WordPress and your security and your updates will be included in a (very reasonable indeed) yearly fee. This kind of hosting is really aimed at smaller businesses who need somewhere quick and secure to host their brochure-style, shop-window-type website. If you need hosting for something like an e-commerce install, then that will probably need dedicated hosting or it will need to be built on a service like Shopify.
Should you need long-term website support and administration outside of the Krystal system – on your own established system essentially – then you will perhaps need to look at the 6 month contract offer (less than £3700 every 6 months for a web administrator who can design, code and generally work on your website for you). It’s talked about in-depth on the blog.
USER INTERFACE & UX DESIGN
I’ve have been doing this so long, it was called front-end development when I started. I’ve been designing and building good-looking and useful user interfaces for nearly 14+ years.
WEBSITE ADMIN & SUPPORT
If you need someone who can code, update and design new pages, add new plugins, decode hosting communications and generally make sense of the digital world then we should talk. I’ve been doing this for many years and I have a wealth of experience in this area. Its also useful for you to have someone on board who can design, manage printing, maintain your website and generally do creative stuff for you so you can get on with running your business. Read more about the offer for that, here.
Need to ask a question about all of this? You can do that here. Looking forward to hearing from you!
“Can we insert you into a team?”
Yes.
“Can you build a complete website from scratch?”
Yes.
“Do you do SEO?”
Yes. But only on-page SEO.
“Do you have hosting I can use?”
Yes. It’s for smaller businesses though, not bigger entities.
“How can I contact you?”
You can email me here.
“Is it true that you offer your hosting clients 15 minutes of free work every month?”
Yes.
“Do you make brochure-style websites from scratch for freelancers?”
Yes.
“Can you code?”
Yes. I wouldn’t call myself a coder though. I’m a front-end developer so my knowledge of things like PHP is limited to what it does in templates. HTML, CSS, JS etc. are all in my wheelhouse.
“Do you support your hosting clients in becoming self-sufficient with WordPress?”
Yes, I do. Often with videos.
“How can I contact you?”
